Short Bio
Dr. Vasyl Cherlinka has over 30 years of experience in agronomy and pedology (soil science). He is a Doctor of Biosciences with a specialization in soil science. He attended engineering college in agrochemistry and agronomy in Ukraine (1989-1993), followed by deepening his expertise at Chernivtsi National University in Agrochemistry and Soil Science (1993-1998). In 2001, he defended his first thesis on agroecological conformity of soil fertility models, and in 2019, he completed his PhD with a thesis on Digital Elevation Models in Soil Science. Since 2018, Dr. Cherlinka has been advising EOSDA on problems in soil science, agronomy, and agrochemistry. Outside of science, he is a candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine in powerlifting and has competed in Strongman competitions.Extended Bio
Dr. Vasyl Cherlinka's relationship with the soil began long before he earned his degrees — it is a connection rooted in the land itself, in the understanding that healthy soil is the foundation of sustainable life. With over 30 years of experience in agronomy and pedology, he has dedicated his career to understanding the complex relationships between soil, crops, and the environment. His academic journey began at an engineering college in Ukraine, where he studied agrochemistry and agronomy from 1989 to 1993. He then moved to Chernivtsi National University, where he deepened his expertise in agrochemistry and soil science from 1993 to 1998. In 2001, he defended his first thesis — "Substantiation of Agroecological Conformity of Models of Soil Fertility and its Factors to the Requirements of Field Cultures" — at the NSC "Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry Research named after O.N. Sokolovsky," earning the degree of Biosciences Candidate with a specialization in soil science.Nearly two decades later, in 2019, Dr. Cherlinka defended his second thesis — "Digital Elevation Models in Soil Science: Theoretical and Methodological Foundations and Practical Use" — earning his PhD in Biosciences with a specialization in soil science. This work bridged traditional soil science with modern geospatial technologies, reflecting his belief that the future of agriculture lies at the intersection of deep domain knowledge and technological innovation.Since 2018, he has been advising EOSDA on problems in soil science, agronomy, and agrochemistry — bringing his decades of experience to bear on some of the most pressing challenges in modern agriculture. He works to ensure that scientific rigor guides the development of tools and technologies that help farmers make better decisions about the land they steward.Dr. Cherlinka is married with two children. He brings the same discipline and dedication to his personal life that he brings to his work. He is a candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine in powerlifting and has competed in Strongman competitions — a fitting parallel to a career that requires both precision and strength, patience and endurance. As an author for ENTECH Magazine, Dr. Cherlinka writes for agronomists and soil scientists looking to deepen their understanding of soil health, for farmers seeking practical knowledge about fertility and crop management, for researchers working at the intersection of geospatial technology and agriculture, and for anyone who understands that the future of food begins with the health of the soil beneath our feet.Primary Beats
