Sailee Pakhare holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology, with a research background spanning microbiology, molecular biology, and disease biology. Her postgraduate dissertation examined the antimicrobial potential of bioactive peptides from lactic acid bacteria, and her research experience includes molecular identification of bacterial isolates (with sequencing data submitted to NCBI) and work as a Research Assistant at SafeWright Laboratory. She also completed a summer internship at IIT Hyderabad studying circadian rhythms and disease biology using Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism. Her work has been recognized with the Best Poster award at the 3rd International Conference on Innovations in Biotechnology Research for Sustainable Bioresources and Bioeconomy (2025), and she has contributed to a book chapter on the role of AI and machine learning in climate change. Sailee is also a co-founder of LifeXtension, a community focused on longevity, ageing, and health science awareness in India.
Extended Bio
Sailee Pakhare sees science not as a fixed body of facts to be memorized, but as a living process — a way of asking questions, challenging assumptions, and exploring the unknown. This philosophy guides her work as a researcher, science communicator, and co-founder, driving her to explore questions that range from the molecular mechanisms of disease to the origins of life itself. Her academic journey began with a Master's degree in Biotechnology, where she developed a strong foundation in microbiology, molecular biology, and disease biology. Her postgraduate dissertation examined the antimicrobial potential of bioactive peptides derived from lactic acid bacteria — research with direct implications for addressing the growing crisis of antimicrobial resistance. She conducted molecular identification of bacterial isolates, with sequencing data submitted to the NCBI database, contributing to the global repository of genomic information.Sailee's research experience extends beyond the laboratory bench. She worked as a Research Assistant at SafeWright Laboratory, where she honed her skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific rigor. She also completed a summer internship at IIT Hyderabad, where she studied circadian rhythms and disease biology using Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism — research that explores the fundamental connections between biological timing and health. Her contributions to the scientific community have been recognized with the Best Poster award at the 3rd International Conference on Innovations in Biotechnology Research for Sustainable Bioresources and Bioeconomy (2025). She has also contributed a book chapter on the role of AI and machine learning in addressing climate change — demonstrating her ability to connect diverse fields of knowledge.Beyond her individual research, Sailee is deeply committed to building scientific communities. She is a co-founder of LifeXtension, a community dedicated to raising awareness about longevity, ageing, and health science in India. Through LifeXtension, she works to make cutting-edge research on ageing accessible to the public and to foster conversations about how we can live longer, healthier lives. As a science communicator, Sailee is committed to translating complex research into writing that is clear, accurate, and engaging. She believes that science belongs to everyone, and that the best research is meaningless if it cannot be understood and applied. As an author for ENTECH Magazine, she writes for students and early-career researchers navigating the world of biotechnology, for anyone curious about the science of ageing and longevity, for interdisciplinary thinkers who see connections across biology, technology, and philosophy, and for those who believe that asking better questions is the first step to finding better answers.
