The Fermi Paradox is a fascinating mystery that questions the existence of extraterrestrial life despite the vastness of the universe. Named after physicist Enrico Fermi, it asks basically one bold question: “Where is everybody?” If the universe is so immense, filled with billions of stars and countless Earth-like planets, why haven’t we found clear signs of intelligent alien civilizations yet? This paradox challenges our understanding of life beyond Earth and has intrigued scientists and dreamers for decades.
Fermi Paradox Explained
Back in the 1950s, Fermi and his colleagues considered some facts. The Milky Way galaxy alone has about 100 billion stars, and around 10% might host habitable planets. If any alien civilization developed advanced technology and interstellar travel, they could explore or colonize the galaxy within millions of years—a blink of an eye compared to the galaxy’s age. Yet, no confirmed visitations or signals have been detected on Earth. This contradiction creates the puzzle scientists call the Fermi Paradox.
